Healing Through Horses
For Children & Adults with Special Needs
Un-Mounted Lessons
The objective of these unmounted lessons is to contribute positively to the cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of individuals with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, M.S., Down's Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, etc. We start clients at their own pace, learning the fundamentals of basic horsemanship, interacting with the horses and learning to get comfortable with the horses. These lessons are engineered for the client to find focus, strengthen brain function, relax, and find healing in a quiet, non-judgmental environment.
Mounted Lessons
The benefit of these lessons is to contribute positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of individuals with special needs. We start clients at their own pace, learning the fundamentals of basic horsemanship and learning to get comfortable with the horse before ever getting on. For these lessons there will be a Riding Instructor, a Horse Leader and the possibility of 1-2 Side Walkers for the safety of our clients. These are a once a week lesson for a minimum of 12 weeks, however the lessons can be extended past 3 months. We work at the pace and with the needs of our clients. Our goal is to improve motor function, muscle tone, cognitive function, focus, relaxation, self-esteem and self confidence in our clients.
